Analysis of the Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises in a sequel in the Batman Saga, directed by Christopher Nolan. Starring Christian Bale, Micheal Caine and Gary Oldman the film is set to be released this July. The Dark Knight Rises is a Action/Drama film in which the Batman tries to save Gotham city from the films villian, Bane. But the trailer shows a darker story, it almost suggests to the audience that Batman is going to die. This is also backed up by posters for the film which have 'the legend ends' on. In the clip you can see some destruction caused by Bane such as the American football pitch collapsing and the bridge falling down. A USP of this trailer is it is part of a Saga and it will bring back fans of teh Batman trilogy and also the special effects as you can see in the trailer, impressive lifelike events such as teh explosions. The target audience for this film will be Action fans such as mainly male audience aged around 12-30. But the film is most likely to be friendly to all audiences, a useful way to allow maximum profit. The music within the Dark Knight Rises starts off slow and quiet, this suggests to the audience the sorrow and sadness within the film but as the trailer continues the music becomes louder and more layered, until finally it it stops layering and either is the old cartoon batman theme tune or very similar to it. Doing this may help bring back fans of the older films and cartoons as the theme song is similar, the film may be similar to what they enjoyed. Within the trailer they use many cleverly used Camera shots and angles. One of which is a extreme wide shot, showing the whole of Gotham and a bridge collapsing. This camera shot shows the audience the location of the film and also that within the film there is destruction.  There is also a shot near the start is a high angle shot of Bruce showing the Batman's weakness juxtaposed to the next shot which includes a low angle shot looking up at Bane showing he is the character of power within the film. The pace at the start of the film doesn't tend towards the film being an action but towards the end as the music starts layering and becoming louder you see more and more action. Within the trailer there is some important dialogue between characters, the most important of this is when talking about Bane as no-one has seen this character before and the way he talks and what he talks about suggests to the reader he is trying to destroy Gotham. The special effects within the trailer are extensive showing explosions, fights and a flying car, this will be appealing to action film fans. At the start there are two quick titles showing that it has been produced by Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures companies that have made impressive and successful other action films such as Ninja assassin, Watchmen, Superman and the other last two Batman's, again appealing to Action fans to watch the film. Then at the there are some small credits showing producers and other famous actors within the film. This trailer tends towards the film being very successful, with the help of this well produced trailer.
