Design of killer

For our killer we have based him on the real life legend of Slender man, here is a sketch of what I think he should look like

One Possible way to make our trailer scarier

I believe that one way that we can make our film much more scary is by using the 'Based on a True Story' line. This allows the audience to believe the story a bit more and find it scarier and connect with it as there is the slight possibility it could happen to them.
For example Paranormal Activity had this line at the start, and even though its paranormal it makes it a bit more connectable for the audience. When I watched it this line made it that little bit scarier as it could be real it stays with you for longer after you leave the cinema.

Possible Film Names

We haven't yet come up with a film title yet, so we thought that we should brainstorm some and choose our favourate names out of this selection. Below are the results of our brainstorm.

My top 3 Favourate names are:

Faded Delusion
Figmentation
Waiting for Sorrow

We also decieded to ask the target market what their favourate names were, we ask 30 people from the 18-30 age range and the top names came out as:

Awaken the Myth
Standing Quietly
Wrong Shadows
Faded Delusion
Silent Myth
Never Wait

Combining these results I believe that the Top 2 Names are:

Faded Delusion
Awaken the Myth

In Conclusion I have chosen to use Faded Delusion. I have gone for this name as I think as a general Horror name it is quite likeable, but I mainly chose it as it links in with the film idea. The idea that the real killer is only known by the accused killer, makes it seem as if its his Delusion and the real killer is mysterious and isn't usually seen and just lurks, this is where the Faded part comes into the title.

Film Treatment

The Idea for our film is to create a Horror Thriller about a real life myth called the Slender-man, there are several different names to this creature throughout history such as Der Ritter, Him or The Tall Man. The film will be called Faded Delusion. I like this name for our film as it adds mystery to the story and works well as the only person who will know about the Slender-man being the killer will be the main character hence the 'Delusion' part of the name.

The film will include the main character being pinned by the police for being the killer but he won't actually be and he will then start his own investigation into who is doing the killings. He will then discover that it is the mysterious Slender-man but won't know his true powers, towards the end of the film he will realise that the Slender-man is in fact slowly getting closer to him when he sees him, starting the desperate run at the end trying to escape him while being pinned for the other murders. Ending in a chase where the main character is running from the police, but is never seen again. At the end will be the best shot of the Slender-man in the distance, in the dark just standing still, then it will fade to black. The main USP of this film is the Slender-man being the killer, as some people will know of Slender-man and want to watch the film because of this, but then also the fact that he is so mysterious would also appeal to certain fans of Horror films.

Strangers Trailer Analysis

The Trailer begins with its rating, it has been approved to be suitable for all ages, this is beacuse the lack of violence and swearing. This benefits the film as it will allow it to advertise itself to the largest possible audeince. This is then followed by a Rogue Films title. Rogue films has helped to produce many very successful films such as Hot Fuzz, Shawn of the Dead, Balls of Fury and Attack on Precinct 13. Not only have they had success in this genre of films but also in Horror films, which include; The Unborn, Last House on the left, The Hitcher and The seed of Chucky. This is an extra selling point for the film, so if people know about the company they may be more likely to wacth the film. This is followed by a Intrepid title, this will have the same effect as the Rogue Films title.

Collaboratitive Action Poster Analysis

Similarities:
  • The Four Main Characters at the top of the page. Theses are all main charcters and help sum up and introduce the charcters to the audeince. This is also a good place to advertise popular actors as a USP.
  • The title is placed at the bottom of the poster in the centre. They are also both silver in colour.
  • The background is a simple black background, this helps keep the audeinces attention on the important features of the poster such as the actors and the title
  • At the centre of the posters is a item which helps sum up the film, for example in fast and furious it is a car, which is the main feature of the film, in Thor the main feature is Thor.
  • Under the title there is a small slogan for both films.
  • Under the slogan is a list of credits including actors, directors and other importnant people and organisations

Similarities:
  • The colour scheme is very alike with the use of a yellowy orange, with a sunrise/sunset in the background.
  • In both the posters the date it is released is at the bottom of the page, around the same size, making it easy to see amd read but not the main attraction of the film.
  • The layout is the same with a character in the top left and more chacraters in the bottom right
Differences:
  • The postion of the main charcters is diffent in the posters in Tears of the sun the main chacrater is top left, whereas in Wanted the main chacreter is bottom right.
  • Another differnece is the position of the title, in Tears of the Sun it is at the bottom and in The Wanted poster it is at the top.
