Daybreakers Film Poster Analysis

Daybreakers is a Action/Horror film released in 2009. It was directed by Michael Spierig and starred Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill. The film is about a virus that has transformed most of the human race into, "Vampires"and is a story about how they are starving from lack of blood and the story of what happens.

From this poster it doesn't tell you much about the film, the first thing you notice when looking at the poster is the title, the white bold writing is very stand out compared to background. The name itself doesn't tell you much about the film if you didn't already know the film was about Vampires. The second thing you notice is the background, from what you can see is rows of humanoid characters hooked up to some machine. Again this doesn't let us know what the film is about, it just adds to the enigmas that help draw in an audience to this film. The main thing that tells you about the film is the small slogan under the title. It talks about the most precious natural resource being us, this suggests that the humanoids in the backgrounds are humans and are probably being farmed for something. This is the only really obvious hint to the fact the film is about Vampires. In conclusion this film poster is OK, as although it has many enigmas to go and see it, however I don't think there is enough content which allows the audience to get interested in the film, so I think if they have seen the trailer it will help convince them to go and see the film but it isn't good at drawing in a new audience.
