Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol Trailer Analysis

The poster for Ghost Protocol shows a picture of 4 people walking towards the camera. The poster includes Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg, these are two famous and good actors, this can help attract a new audience. The poster also includes the title Mission Impossible, this can help attract a previous audience which are fans of the previous films. In the background you can see a city setting, this can suggest that the film is set in a city. The tall building you can see is possibly the one seen in the trailer where Ethan swings on the side of it. The poster also features a beautiful woman, this could be here to attract a male audience as this is the sort of audience are usually the main target of action films.

Ghost Protocol is the Fourth film in the Mission Impossible series. They are fast paced action films which are suitable from a young age. The film is a 12A, this is a clever way of creating a large target market for the film, this will have been done to attract a large audeince from the young children and the older audience which have seen the previous films and are part of the original fanbase. This has been set out like this to try and maximise the box office takings of the film.

The first shot in the trailer is a paramount title, this has been used to help attract fans of paramount films, as people who have seen other films by paramount and enjoyed them might be more tempted to see Ghost Protocol. After this is a SkyDance and a Bad Robot title as well, to also help advertise to these audiences. After these it goes into an establishing shot of a courtyard, this has been done to allow the audeince to understand where this first section of the trailer is being shot. There is also a Narrative setting the scene about a bomb going off. This is likely to help attract a thriller/action audeince as this is the sort of convention that these audeinces enjoy. There is then a special effect shot of the bomb going off in a clock tower and a man trying to run away from some ground explosions. This shows the viewers of the trailer that the film is high budget and well finished. These sort of shots suggest to the audince that the film will be good to watch due to the quality, these explosions also are there to help attract an action fanbase. Within the trailer you hear about the IMF, which has featured in previuos films which which can help make the film appeal to a prevoius fanbase. Another way in which they have helped increase the audeince is by having famous actors within the film, such as Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg and Paula Patton. Within the trailer they lay down a basic storyline as a good storyline can also help appeal to the audeince. The music they have used is by Eminem, they have done this as it popular music and even fans of the music might go to see the film because of this. Overall in conclusion the film is very appeailing to the target audience of males from 12-40, this is a well worked trailer which will appeal to a previous and new audeince.
